Who Is Mary Moon?

Mary was 2  in the summer of 2008  when she was diagnosed with a type of cancer called Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a very fast spreading cancer that affects infants and toddlers. There are only about 650 cases in the US each year. You can Google “Neuroblastoma” for all the details.

Mary was a little princess. She and her brother Will,  the greatest loves of her parent’s lives. She brought great joy to them and the people that she saw every day. Mary did  an excellent job as a “little sister” to her brother Will, stealing his toys, making him share, and taunting him any way she could. She admired Will and saw him as one of her most important teachers, copying everything he did. They loved each other very much.

During 2008 and 2009 Mary  went through treatments such as high intense chemotherapy, stem cell replacement and radiation therapy. Mary never complained and comforted her family throughout this process.

Mary’s battle  become more intense as the cancer had spread to the main areas of her bone marrow (hips, legs, arms), additionally her eye sockets and a lump (tumor) on her head and another at the base of her skull were detected. These areas in her head spread the cancer into her bones, including her  bone marrow. After treatment the original tumor site (on her left kidney) again showed some signs of the cancer.

After one year of treatment Mary's battle ended on July 30, 2009 at 2 PM.. She passed peacefully with her family present.

Our mission at Charity Warriors is to honor Mary and her  fight. This, the fight that all children and their families affected by cancer must face.

Please help us support Mary Moon her family and the Children's Cancer Research Fund by participating in Mary Moon's walk on August 23, 2009.

Together we can make a difference. Together we can fight for a cure.
